We love good food, and we also love trying all the latest and newest restaurants in Sandton, so that we can share them with our avid foodie readers.

Acclaimed international chef, David Higgs has just opened his latest offering, Saint ‘Pazzo Italiano’ in partnership with entrepreneur Gary Kyriacou of Marble fame, in the brand spanking new The Marc precinct in Sandton and a visit to Saint is nothing short of an experience from start to finish.

While Marble has gained kudos for celebrating quintessentially South African fair, Saint sees the powerhouse duo introduce the concept of “Pazzo Italiano”, meaning “Mad Italian” – an offering which encompasses pizza and pasta as well as a range of dishes cooked on woks and an open fire.” It’s not an Italian restaurant but there is a definite Italian feel,” says David.

No attention to details was spared in the décor and layout, and we were tickled pink by the cute lamps in the bar, the rather large marble looking angel emerging from above the bar and the really unique bathrooms (we won’t share what it was – but rather suggest that you head through to check it out for yourself.) Tell them Sandton Magazine sent you.

Retro chic is the order of the day, yet somehow it is all artfully woven in to the dining experience in a way that just make sense. Start with a drink in the bar before moving through to the main dining room, which showcase it’s giant kitchen as well

We enjoyed delicious Burrata cheese with tomatoes done in the wood fired oven for starters and others at the table raved about the oysters and also the Sirloin carpaccio.
Mains were delicious and we were so spoilt for choice between the pizza and pasta selections on offer, but finally settled on a melt in the mouth Seabass main with potatoes.

We did not indulge from the dessert menu, but had we had some space, we would have most certainly tried them, and we also really adored the cute little champagne trolley that does it rounds, serving up bottles or glasses of only the best champers to their trend setting guests.

Certainly worth a visit not only from a visual aspect – the food was amazing and you certainly do leave feeling like you have undertaken an amazing culinary journey – in all senses of the word.

Booking is advisable for larger tables and although they do do their best to accommodate walk in’s , given the popularity of the restaurant right now, we do highly suggest giving them a call to secure your spot.
