We love discovering beautiful gems in our local Sandton and surrounds, and Clico Boutique Hotel is just that. Located on a rather busy road in the bustling suburb of Rosebank, you would be surprised to find that behind the walls of this beautifully appointed hotel, lies an unexpected peace and quiet that is set to restore the soul.

Many choose to make Clico their base when in Johannesburg, whether from overseas or visiting from other cities for work, purely for the fact that not only is it really convenient and centrally located, but also really close to the Gautrain station, making getting in and out of the city that much easier.

Clico also offers function facilities are unique and varied and suit intimate events and meetings perfectly. Recently revamped, the conference room now boasts in own separate entrance, as well as big sliding doors that open onto the shady garden, allowing natural daylight and fresh air to flood into the venue.

The walls are decorated with plants, and guests get to enjoy their tea and lunch breaks in the beautiful garden – allowing some fresh air to get the creative juices flowing. The room is also perfect for an intimate cocktail party or birthday celebration – not to mention wedding receptions and the team at Clico are adept at creating the perfect day for many the bride.

The on-site restaurant which hums under the under the watchful eye of Chef Marnus Scholly, offers a super location for a working lunch. It is a great space to take local and international clients – with its delicious food and sophisticated ambiance, and beautiful garden. Our dinner was a treat and each course so beautifully plated it felt like eating a work of art.

We selected the pairing menu and enjoyed the Cured Salmon starters with a tasty Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc. Our melt in the mouth mains of Seabass with a Lemon Risotto paired perfectly with the Yardstick Chardonnay and dessert which was recommended by our efficient and knowledgeable waiter was the Berries paired with a rose water ice cream, berry Granola and a berry Granita and the Th Raptor Rose – a pink heaven.

The hotel opened its doors in 2006 and is owned by Jeanette Schwegman, who has grown the hotel from a single building to a much extended and modernised hotel, with an unparalleled attention to all the important details, as well as personalised interaction with staff and fantastic service and attention to even the most minute detail.

Room rates are highly competitive (weekend and room only specials available) with free fibre Wi-Fi and coffee & tea making facilities included in all rooms. Bed & Breakfast rates include a full breakfast served in Clico’s restaurant.

Our beautiful Executive King room was located on the ground floor and featured a large sliding door right out on to the garden and swimming pool and was decorated in the most peaceful sea blues and pure white colours offering a fresh, yet homely feel, with wood laminate flooring and a large bathroom with a bath and shower. We were intrigued with the all glass bathroom walls, which at the flick of a switch, clouds over to offer complete bathroom privacy – an intriguing feature.

Our stay was nothing short of amazing and we look forward to visiting again very soon, for some much needed TLC in this peaceful and tranquil haven.
