Calling all ballet lovers, you will want to make sure that the dates 14th – 23rd December are free, and take the family along with you to the ballet at The Teatro at Montecasino. The Joburg Ballet company will be bringing the classic fairy tale of Cinderella to life in all it’s romantic glory.
“Cinderella is one of the company’s most popular and highly acclaimed productions,” says artistic director, Iain MacDonald.
“Strauss composed some of the most enchanting, best loved and memorable classical music ever written and Cinderella, his only ballet score, is no exception. In December Christmas will be just around the corner, making Cinderella the perfect ballet for the holiday season and the ideal way to introduce Joburg Ballet to a wider Johannesburg audience” he adds.
Choreographed by MacDonald in 2013, Cinderella will once again be waltzing across stage with Johann Strauss’s classic melodies providing the ideal musical setting for this ultimate rags-to-riches tale.
All the sets have been specially created by Andrew Botha’s who is preparing to wow with showstopper glittering designs to frame the action and the full ballet company will be on hand to light up the theatre in a family-friendly production brimming with charm and magic.
