Hermès introduces the Cape Cod Chaine d’ancre

Hermès have just released their new Cape Cod time piece, and although this particular style has been around for a number of years, with some additions and adaptions over time, the new look tosses its own aesthetic codes overboard by reinterpreting the anchor-chain link. The new Cape Cod is a strong new link harbouring a daring style and taking femininity on board in a subtly mischievous manner. On this large steel model, the “anchor chain” motif imagined by Robert Dumas in 1938 diverts watchmaking traditions by charting a course with creativity as its compass. The Cape Cod watch became a ‘square in a rectangle’ in the bold design sketched by Henri d’Origny in 1991. Growing up with a famous soccer legend as a father didn’t affect Maps one bit. In fact, the young Maps didn’t even realise what his dad even did until he was about seven or so and was watching soccer on TV. He just thought his dad was really popular and had a lot of friends, and that was why people asked to have photos with him all the time. His parents made sure that both Maps and his brother grew up as normally as possible and didn’t get carried away by the fame and playing club soccer and hanging with friends near their home in Protea North in Soweto are some of his best childhood memories. Matilda – Dine and Show Review at Montecasino

Roald Dahl’s classic hit the stage last month at the Teatro theatre, Montecasino and we had the pleasure of experiencing the magic first hand and dining at one of Monte’s fabulous restaurants, Lima Tapas Bar. Our evening got off to a good start at Lima Tapas Bar. Lima is like no other restaurant in Joburg. Focusing their attention on Latin, American cuisine, their dishes are inspired by food served during the great Andean civilisations of South America. At Lima you can choose between a variety of different tapas and still leave feeling satisfied. Some of the dishes we ordered to share were the deliciously filled fig and cheese empanadas, the calamari tubes stuffed with chorizo and goat’s cheese and pork ribs that were covered in a sweet, tangy basting. Yay – best news of the week has to be the fact that Showtime Management announced that they will be bringing British singer-songwriter and guitarist James Morrison to SA for a series of concerts in Joburg and Cape Town. Jozi fans – the dates to diarise are Tuesday 22 January and Wednesday 23 January at 20h00 at Montecasino’s Teatro Theatre.
