Chicago musical heading to Monte in April…

We are so excited we do not know what to do with ourselves – smash hit musical Chicago is coming to Montecasino in March this year. He had it comin’… and we have it coming to Jozi as this award winning South African touring cast and crew bring all your fave hits home. Yup, All that Jazz, Cell Block Tango and Mister Cellophane and a night club singer and a murderess, as well as as a lawyer with the gift of the gab hit the stage at The Teatro from 26th April to 26th May 2019. The show features Samantha Peo and Ilse Klink, as well as Craig Urbani take the lead roles and are supported by a stellar cast including KJ Haupt with Carmen Pretorius and Grant Towers joining the company in principal roles. Southern Sun Montecasino Hotel a staycation of note…

We recently spent a night at the beautiful four star Southern Sun Montecasino hotel, and were blown away by the beauty of this Tsogo Sun Property. Echoing the Italian theme that Montecasino is well known for, the hotel is inspired in it’s design by the 15th century Palazzo Corsini villa in Italy’s picturesque mountain region of Gianicolo, and you would be forgiven for thinking you had slipped back in time to an old-world Venetian era. Of course the hotels services and amenities are anything but old world and bullet speed Wi-Fi is always a huge plus in our world, and they delivered it. From a speedy check in, to pre-dinner drinks on the pool deck to efficient and attentive service in the onsite Punchinello’s restaurant our stay was a pleasure from start to finish. Matilda – Dine and Show Review at Montecasino

Roald Dahl’s classic hit the stage last month at the Teatro theatre, Montecasino and we had the pleasure of experiencing the magic first hand and dining at one of Monte’s fabulous restaurants, Lima Tapas Bar. Our evening got off to a good start at Lima Tapas Bar. Lima is like no other restaurant in Joburg. Focusing their attention on Latin, American cuisine, their dishes are inspired by food served during the great Andean civilisations of South America. At Lima you can choose between a variety of different tapas and still leave feeling satisfied. Some of the dishes we ordered to share were the deliciously filled fig and cheese empanadas, the calamari tubes stuffed with chorizo and goat’s cheese and pork ribs that were covered in a sweet, tangy basting. Singer-Songwriter James Morrison is coming to Joburg…

Yay – best news of the week has to be the fact that Showtime Management announced that they will be bringing British singer-songwriter and guitarist James Morrison to SA for a series of concerts in Joburg and Cape Town. Jozi fans – the dates to diarise are Tuesday 22 January and Wednesday 23 January at 20h00 at Montecasino’s Teatro Theatre. James Morrison first arrived on our music scenes 12 years ago and back in 2006, who would have guessed that not only would James be an iconic name touring the globe – but also that he would be setting the precedent for many other singers who now cite him as their inspiration – such as Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, George Ezra and James Bay to name a few. If you’re like us, then you probably grew up listening to Johnny Clegg’s music too. After all, the legendary singer was instrumental in shaping South African music to what it is today. So when we heard he will be embarking on his final world tour this year, we couldn’t help feel nostalgic. The iconic South African artist will be performing at the Teatro Theatre in Montecasino for two Johannesburg shows on Saturday 7th July and Sunday 8th July, before moving to Durban for his nationwide leg.
