Italian cuisine is one of the greatest cuisines in the world. The food is so wholesome and hearty, it’s just perfect for those cold winter nights. Which is why we rounded up our top five favourite Italian restaurants in Joburg: Gemelli Ever since Gemelli opened their doors in Bryanston in November 2015, they’ve been praised as the best Italian restaurant in town, and for good reason. Their head chef, Paulo is forever finding new ways to reinvent traditional Italian dishes and he does so in an exciting way, changing the menu from season to season. Signature dishes include their penne Alessandro (named after the charismatic owner himself), their shellfish linguini and their Gemelli chicken. Rockets in Bryanston The guys behind Rockets in Rivonia and Parkhurst have expanded their brand to bring you Rockets in Bryanston. This vibey spot, located in Hobart Shopping Centre will no doubt offer the perfect setting for after-work drinks for those living in the neighbourhood, since Rivonia has closed. Famous for their cocktails and delicious pizzas, Rockets also do an amazing Thai curry and chicken rösti served with sour cream, sweet chilli sauce and a side salad. www.rocketslife.tv Patachou Patisserie  We couldn’t get enough of Patachou Patisserie when they first opened their doors in Rivonia Village Shopping Centre, and luckily for us, we now get to visit two branches as they’ve opened another patisserie in Parktown North.
